Summary of conclusion and Analysis

From the overview of all our group members we found out that our answer is still the same, there is yet any cure for AIDS. However there are medication in controlling AIDS and extend the lifespan of AIDS paitent. Scientist are rapidly researching on the treatment to cure AIDS, donation are need for their research to go on. Cure AIDS is impossible without research, hopefully in furture we can get a right vaccine to cure this virus.

In reducing the suffering of innocents who was born contacted with AIDS. The scale and severity of the impact of the global HIV/AIDS pandemic on low-income countries, mainly those in sub-Saharan Africa, is almost unimaginable to people in high-income countries. There is a particularly pressing need to understand better how to ensure the translation into policy and practice of important research findings in HIV/AIDS prevention and care in countries threatened by fast spreading HIV epidemics. The purpose of this paper is to review the findings and implications of a policy analysis case study of an HIV/AIDS clinical trial that has been successful in influencing HIV prevention policy relevant to low-income countries, in order to identify illustrative lessons for HIV/AIDS researchers in the future. The case study sought to detail the interaction between researchers and policy-makers for this particular case study to ascertain detailed analysis by these two groups on the interaction between research and policy.

The major findings that retrieve from our research is the new insights into HIV Latency. Viral latency, the principal barrier to eradicating HIV, is the ability of HIV to lie dormant in very small numbers of Long-lived cellls, invisible to the immune system and resistant to the effects of current antiretroviral drugs. A new cellular hiding place for latent HIV had been indentified by doctors. The major source of it the CD 4+ memory T cell. It is critical to the body's defense against attack by microbes and cancer cells.

Discuss the development in Aids research

This site gaves up to date information about aids. Let people understand more about aids, it offers program for people, a vital niche in AIDS research, identifying critical gaps in our knowledge of HIV and AIDS, and supporting ground-breaking studies that often lack the preliminary data required by more traditional funders.

This site shows how does AIDS occurs, how to prevent AIDS and how does AIDS transmit, and how Is It Diagnosed and Treated? There is no cure for AIDS, which makes prevention so important. Combinations of antiviral drugs and drugs that boost the immune system have allowed many people with HIV to resist infections, stay healthy, and prolong their lives, but these medications are not a cure. Right now there is no vaccine to prevent HIV and AIDS, although researchers are working on developing one.

Found this great site on the development in Aids research, it state that the researches are close in finding the cure and medicine for Aids. Basic research suggests that opioids may suppress immune function by modulating the levels of these cytokines. The effectiveness of macrophages, a large cells that circulate in the blood destroying disease microorganisms - is reduced by both infection and opioids, causing either an increase in the production of destructive cytokines or a decrease in the levels of beneficial cytokines. This means that the cure for Aids will come sooner than expected, and is a very good news for those affected by it.

This site announce that in 2006, The National Institutes of Health halted studies in Uganda and Kenya when it became overwhelmingly clear that circumcision significantly reduces men’s chances of catching H.I.V.. This is another way and steps that we can take to prevent Aids, the studies recruited men willing to be circumcised and randomly assigned them to immediate surgery or to a control group. In both studies, the circumcised men acquired half the number of H.I.V. infections as their uncircumcised counterparts did. The studies confirm the results of a trial that ended last year in South Africa, in which circumcision prevented 60 to 70 percent of new AIDS infections. More good news towards Aids recovery, and more great discoveries to be done.

HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. As the name suggests it only causes disease in humans, which leads to the depletion of white blood cells leading to lowering of immunity. Once the virus enters the body it lies dormant for many years and hence is known as a 'slow virus'. Most other viruses for example, those causing measles, mumps, chicken pox, etc., manifest the disease in 14-21 days after it enters the body. Hence the incubation period is short (2-3 weeks) whereas in HIV infection it is very long and runs into years.
This site talks about the progression of development of HIV/AIDS in Asia Pacific, with on going events going on around asia.
