Topic: Discuss about the developments of alcoholism amongst youths
Alcohol use by persons under age 21 has been identified as a major public health problem. Studies note that it increases the risks for disability, and may be detrimental to the developing brain. Minors who drink are more likely to commit suicide, break the law, or be victims of violence. Alcohol is implicated in nearly one-third of youth traffic fatalities.
Many kids begin drinking as early as middle school or even sooner. This is dangerous. Kids who drink are more likely to be victims of violent crime and sexual assault. They are more likely to have serious problems in school. They are more likely to be involved in drinking-related traffic crashes. They are also more likely to develop problems with alcohol later in life.
Kids often begin drinking to look "cool" or fit in with their peers. Parents can do many things to help their kids avoid alcohol problems. Get help for your child if you suspect a drinking problem.

Alcohol can be rather harmful for youths under the age of 21. Youth tend to start drinking at the age of 14 to 15. Youths who drink tend to be vistims of violent crimes and sexual assualts. Many studies have shown, youths who have friends who drink are more likely to drink themselves. And girls are more easily influenced then guys. Youths often begin drinking as they that it is cool and fit in to their peers. Drinking puts the youth under risk of liver problems, brain problems and many other body problems.

Developments of alcoholism amongst youthsThe development of alcoholism amongst youths has been rising. Youths seek for excitement that result them in addiction to alcohol as they think they look cool!
The two resources that I have found are:
1)
http://www.enotalone.com/article/11189.htmlThe above article talks about the consequences and risks of youths or underage drinking alcohol. To prove that the development of alcoholism amongst youths has been increasing, there are statistics that shows the upcoming trend. The article is set to be reliable because of the research that is done by the national agency which focus more on the health of the people in their country. However, the article is not updated till 2008, it is only updated to the year 2006. Overall, it sums up to be that alcohol is bad for health especially for youths and young adults. If one gets addicted to alcohol when young, they will not be able to get rid of the addiction and health might be affected as they live on.
2)
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwR/preview/mmwrhtml/00001933.htmThe second article talks about how alcohol has affect the youths and young adults. Youths or young adults did not heed advics and rules that says " not to drink when you are going to drive" and " not to drive when you are drunk". With these, there has been and increasing rate of fatal traffic crashes which is mainly caused by the consumption of alcohol where drivers are more likely to be youths or young adults. Therfore, actions has been taken to solve the these problems. Campaigns are organized to bring across the dangerous of driving when alcohol is consume. At the same time, the main point to be brought across is to stop youths from the first try in alcohol where health is concerned.

For the result of this assignment, i have also found some of the link which might be useful and the following link will be:
1)

http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/youthissues/index.htmlIn this 2 website, i have found out information like what are the risks and consequences of youths consuming alcohol and to raise awareness about the threat of alcohol consumption. The first website shows the article of a talk conduct by the Deputy Director of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Research Unit which talk about the situation of alcoholism on youth in southern African region and what should be done to resolve this situation from happening. Example of the incident that might occur when youth consume alcohol will be use are of the acute kind; violence in the streets, injuries, accidents, domestic violence and sexual risk behaviour.
The second website is however different from the first site, it discuss about what should really be the age to start drinking, drinking issues and the drinking problems on college campuses. This website also show that there is an 33% increase of women consuming alcohol compare to the past. One of the solution that this website suggest to solve the problem of alcoholism will be to increase the number of advertisment of impact of alcoholism around the world to inform not only youth, but people around the world the risk and consequences of alcoholism.

In the assignment research of our group discussion topic, i found a website that is written by a the National Institutions of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism(NIAAA).
The internet resources that i found are as followed:
http://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/AA67/AA67.htm Through this website, I’m able to learn more about the alcoholism of adolescents and due to the website being a organization website, it gave vivid detail on their research findings classified according to the different age group and give theoretical risks consequences and effect about alcoholism. Besides, the website provides me with relevant references for further comprehensive purposes. Even though being a organizational website, it tend to be not as updated as one of the advantages despite providing very theoretical details. However, the website provides search facility that enables us to further search about other information within the organization. This facility has added on to my convenience and efficiencies.
As conclusion, i felt this website information were comprehensive and detailed in providing me with avid knowledge about the topic discussed even though it is not being currency.
With the second alternative website that i found which is resourceful were as followed :

Drinking alcohol have been seen as a way to kill times and for party by youth nowadays and their parent do not find any big problem with it. However, if youth started to drink at a young age, there are alot of probelm arising. With the help of the two website that i have found, I am able to give more detail of it.
The first website that i have found is
http://library.adoption.com/Alcoholism/Youth-Drinking/article/4859/1.html This website tell me the problem that might arise by the youth if they start drinking at a early stage. One of the probelm is that, they are too immature to handle to situation such as if they are drunk, they might tend to have problem such as violence and they might be involve in unwanted situation. However, this link also give me other information that youth drinking might be affected by factors such as gene such as two twins have the same vulnerablities to acolhol and if the infant mother drink during pregnant, they might be affected by it too
The second link is
http://www.squidoo.com/AlcoholismStages This website tell me the four stages that a drinker will go through befoure being a alcoholism. This website also say the possibilities of them being affected by other alcohol. They also provide information on how to curb alcoholism for the individual. Furthermore they also state out how much does one spend on alcohol and they also say that curbing alcohol is not easy as one must go through a ongoing process. They must also have a very strong mental determination to quit it.
